Bottle Fed Calves and Pasture Raised Beef

Home

We purchase our beef or cross bred calves and bottle feed them the amazing goat milk that our goat does provide each day.  We feel it does a far superior job to milk replacer and in the long run is cheaper as well.  Sometimes we raise the calves up to feeder size, 600 lbs or so and sell them or occasionally we will feed them out and finish them.  The heifers we try to keep and hope to build up a breeding herd.

We do have Missy, our dairy heifer that is growing into a fine young cow.  She is aptly named. At the sale Kate and I generally agree on which ones look good prior to bidding.  On her occasion, I said " Is it this one?" Kate said "No That one!" I said "That one."  Kate said "This one!" As I began to bid Kate screamed "NOT THAT ONE!" Needless to say no one else bid and my "mistake" became Missy.  She may become our first family milk cow.

This is Emma, She was born here and we had hoped her mama would be our milk cow but emma was too big but fortunately she survived - her mama didn't
